Terminator: Survivors Game - What we know so far.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a sci-fi show released in 2018, it takes place in an alternate timeline that diverges after Terminator 2: Judgement Day and ignores the events of Terminator 3. The show technically begins in 1999 and then they flee to 2007.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TSCC) takes place in an alternate timeline that diverges after Terminator 2: Judgment Day and ignores the events of Terminator 3. In this series, the events of The Terminator take place in 1983 and T2 in 1997. The show begins in 1999 with Sarah, John, and the protector Cameron fleeing from the future and jumping to 2007 to stop Skynet.

Terminator: Games

There have been more than 19 games released under the Terminator franchise since 1991. In 1995 Bethesda Softworks produced The Terminator: Future Shock a first-person shooter video game for MS-DOS. The game received generally positive reviews, and a sequel, Skynet, was released in 1996. Terminator: Survivors will be the latest game released under the Terminator franchise and will be a First-person survival game that some people have coined as being similiar to State of Decay. Terminator: Resistance is a 2019 first-person shooter game developed by Teyon and published by Reef Entertainment for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. The game is based on the Terminator franchise, set during the original future war depicted in the films The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. 

Terminator: Survivors

Terminator Survivors seems to be a bit of a secret project, the developers seem to have kept it under wraps, there was nothing released at Gamescom 2025 and suddenly there is a release date on Console for 31-12-2025. Terminator: Survivors Is Built Using Unreal Engine 5, and Multiplayer Is PvE-Only according to a New Presentation by Nacon. Nacon Studio Milan are the italian developers behind the new Terminator Survivors game, and the latest Unreal Engine is 5.6. 

The game is an open-world survival title where players must scavenge, craft, and build a base while being hunted by Skynet's machines. It can be played solo or in co-op. 

Terminator Survivors is a survival game that will see you meander an open world with a Terminator lore story line and a T800 on your tail, it's not quite clear whether this would be one or many T800's but it does allude to a "Sarah Connor Chronicles" style story line akin with the sci-fi show from 2008. Although I can't find much in terms of gameplay, I think that this could be a promising release and with the open world aspect set on a Terminator backdrop could have lots of potential for different storylines and DLC content.

As far as open world survival games, I am a fan of DayZ, and Dune: Awakening (2025) has reached 8/10 on IGN mainly for it's capturing of Arrakis and the story line. - IGN (Travis Northup)

I was a always a fan of the Terminator: Sarah connor chronicles which was discontinued after ending on a cliff hanger in season 2, I actually found this series really enjoyable because it explored the human aspect Terminator, along with a T800 oscillating between protector and killer as it encounters software glitches, and a T1000 that really invests in Terminators and AI in a way where it cherishes the value of robots.

Terminator Survivors has the ability to pick this back up, and rather then invest in various Terminator characters through a bingable series, instead its set on a survivial backdrop, written in the latest Unreal engine, and should hopefully boast 4K graphics and some interesting story.

The radio silence on this game creates a mystery around whether it will be a hit or not, however the game description boasts iconic characters, original ones, and a post-apocalyptic future, which differs slightly from the series in terms of timeline. It is understood that during the game's timeline Skynet is almost an unknown, this opens up the story a lot, meaning that Skynet, the Iconic characters and lore will sit somewhere inbetween Terminator 2 and Terminator Salvation with Christian Bale.

One take on the radio silence could be to avoid uneccessary criticism while being quietly confident of it's success, it's clear that when it comes to film and book remakes as a game, keeping true to the franchise and maintaining the aura, environment and original feel ensures a game's success.

I have recently been playing Fallout 76 an open world game set with Fallout lore and a fallout backdrop, exploring themes after leaving the Vault, and I think that Terminator Survivors has a chance to impress us where this game failed.

All-in-all I am very much looking forward to Terminator Survivors, however I am remaining open minded to it's depth and and how true and creative it stays to the franchise.
