Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Announced

4 min read - 09 Jun, 2025

Call of Duty 2025 officially revealed to be Black Ops 7, developed by Treyarch.

It's unprecedented times, we were initially blessed with a fully remvamped Warzone Verdansk, and now the Call of Duty God's have blessed us with Black Ops 7, a back to back call of duty release which has never happened before, usually Infinity Ward get their slot and will present us with a Modern Warfare varient, however this year (2025) Treyarch and Raven have been tasked with Black Ops 7.

There is no official release date at the moment, and Treyarch have always been the OG for the zombies story line. The interesting thing is that the final map for Call of Duty 6 hasn't dropped yet for Zombies and we still have a few more seasons to go, and already Black Ops 7 has been announced, maybe Activision wanted to strike while the iron is hot? Making Call of Duty black ops consequtive releases.

The protagonist of this version is David Mason whom last appeared black ops 2 and black ops 4, and this trailer does have synergy with black ops 2, which released over 13 years ago, saw us get a game that was high tech, with robot dogs and strike force missions.

Black Ops 2 wasn't the best for single player, or multiplayer, however what Black Ops 2 was, was one of the most iconic releases of zombies map, with Tranzit.

It's early days yet, but we do have the trailer below:

Taking a glimpse at 3:01 of the video, do we have a tranzit teaser?

The other interesting part of the trailer, which is part in-game graphics and part theatrital suggests an almost Alan Wake esque environment, and if you player Call of Duty black ops 6 there were a few trippy missions that really resonated well with the gameplay, I do like this approach and it's a refreshing change from the usual run and gun type gameplay.

However, what excites us the most is the Zombies story line, the nostalgia, and the round based zombies that keeps us coming back for more. It has been suggested by the youtuber @mrroflwaffles that a credible source at Activision has suggested that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will feature a tranzit style transport system, and that they are experimenting with different map ideas. The video above suggests the new style graphical zombies.

I remember putting hours into Tranzit, and even playing it with my daughter as she grew up, and discovering you could teleport with a crafted portable generator and acquiriing a denzien that you then had to knife off near a powered lamp.  (see steps below).

  1. Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  2. Turn on the power: Go to bus stop #4 and turn on the power, or use a portable generator
  3. Find a Denizen: Let a Denizen zombie attack you.
  4. Run under a lamp post: Once attacked, run under one of the green lamp posts that are scattered around the map.
  5. Teleport: A teleporter pad will appear. Jump onto the pad to teleport.

For more nostalgia, see the video below:

As always though, we have to be mindful as fans that they could be using nostalgia to reignite the old fanbase while attracting the new, and we have to consider that new subscribers for Game Pass, and new players for the game is the key objective for any studio. Ultimately, with this game being released on Game Pass, we have to be acutely aware that the ingame micro transactions pay the bills, and that the playerbase are ultimately the priority.
