Double deluxe.Capcom's Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is out on Xbox this Thursday, and as a result, a bunch of pre-release reviews have started popping up online as the Japanese developer prepares for its upcoming zombie-filled release. We've already shared our thoughts on this new remaster, which you can check out down below, alongside a selection of other reviews from across the web.
Dead Rising is back.Yep, a solid eight years on from 2016's Dead Rising 4, Capcom returns to its whacky zombie-slaying series with what's now a second re-do of the Xbox 360 original.Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is certainly a more comprehensive overhaul than the game's Xbox One release, with vastly improved visuals, steadier frame rates, fresh character models and new control options in this 2024 version of the title.
Specifically the Deathinitive Edition.THQ Nordic has announced today that the classic 2012 game Darksiders 2 is getting a free Xbox Series X and S upgrade next month, arriving in the form of a "remastered" edition. If you already own Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition for Xbox One, you'll get access to this new remaster via Smart Delivery, which adds 4K resolution, ray tracing, improved loading times, and enhanced lighting and shadows.

It's a big old list this month...Xbox has just revealed the next batch of titles leaving the Game Pass library, with 10 games in total exiting the service in late September 2024.It's a bit of a painful list this month we must admit, with some major games departing in just a few weeks' time.
But it will still be an "amazing game".The Elder Scrolls is one of the biggest franchises in modern gaming, with games like Skyrim setting new standards for RPGs, so how will Bethesda ever be able to top its past hits when the new entry is finally released?According to former Bethesda designer Bruce Nesmith, who also worked on the likes of Fallout and the latest release Starfield, it will be "almost impossible" to match player expectations because of the company's history, even if it will "undoubtedly" be an "amazing game".
Welcome to your latest Game Pass update, Xbox fans!Today, we have a couple of new additions to the library, although one of those is actually a bunch of new freebies for Blizzard's Overwatch 2.Still, we thought it was worth mentioning them - and down below is introduction to those OW2 goodies, alongside your other Xbox Game Pass title for September 17th.
Nine months into a year that's absolutely flown by, and we've seen some fantastic Xbox games in that time. It's been so long that we actually forgot about some of the cool releases that launched at the start of 2024.Games like Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Hypercharge: Unboxed, Unicorn Overlord, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Harold Halibut are all great titles that deserve the spotlight as we get closer to Game of the Year season.
"Uncover the many mysteries...".Starfield: Shattered Space is out two weeks today, and to mark the occasion, Bethesda has just dropped a brand-new deep dive on the DLC and its new "isolated, handcrafted world" coming to players on Xbox and PC.Naturally, we've thrown the team's new deep dive video up above, which goes into lots of detail on Shattered Space - across roughly 10 minutes-or-so of Starfield video goodness.
Xbox seems to be chopping and changing its overall strategy quite a lot these days, with numerous multiplatform ports marking one of the biggest changes internally over at Team Green. At least, that's according to well-known leaker eXtas1s, who put out a new YouTube video over the weekend discussing these strategy shifts and how they're going down over at Microsoft HQ.Now, we're not fluent in Spanish over here at Pure Xbox HQ, but thankfully the Spanish insider has provided a snapshot of the video over on Twitter, which we've translated down below.
It's being fixed as we speak.Earlier this month, we began to see a bunch of people reporting issues with backwards compatibility on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and we're pleased to report that Xbox Insiders are already testing a fix for it.The issue revolved around installing backwards compatible games from disc, with players being told that there was a "problem getting this content".
The series' recent trend is ending.Over the last couple of COD releases, Activision has served up a campaign early access period for pre-orders, but that will not be the case for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.In a statement provided to CharlieIntel, the Xbox developer says it "is fully focused on October 25th" as the team opts for a one-date launch for all aspects of this year's COD game.
It launched on PC to Overwhelmingly Positive reviews.FNAF: Into The Pit will release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on September 27th, 2024.FNAF: Into The Pit is set to release on Xbox consoles this August, as suggested by the developer in a recent statement on social media.
Following the recent arrival of Xbox Game Pass Standard, there are now four tiers of Game Pass that you can subscribe to as of September 2024, and knowing which is the best one to join can be pretty tricky at first glance.Xbox Game Pass Core is the cheapest version of the service, and it's basically a replacement for Xbox Live Gold that went away in 2023.The idea is to give you access to online multiplayer for a small-ish fee per-month, and you also get a small but decent selection of older Game Pass titles to play as well.
The same goes for all of FuRyu's games. You may be aware of an upcoming action RPG known as Reynatis for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC - we'd never heard of it because of the lack of Xbox version, which the game's creative producer touched upon in a recent interview.Basically, it's mentioned that a general lack of interest in Japan for both an Xbox version of the game as well as the Xbox platform itself is the reason behind this - and the same goes for all of publisher FuRyu (NIS America)'s titles.
One of Microsoft's big new features for Xbox Series X|S is dynamic backgrounds - and the team has slowly built out a collection of free animated wallpapers since the launch of the system.Well, today that collection is growing thanks to a new Everspace 2 option, and a bunch of others have been added in recent weeks as well. So, we thought we'd gather the three new backgrounds that have been added in the last month-or-so and showcase them all down below.
It's been a quiet old week for Xbox Game Pass, but we were at least treated to a big addition from Ubisoft on Wednesday in the form of Riders Republic. It might be a bit old now, but this extreme sports title is still popular in 2024!To be honest, we haven't really dipped into Riders Republic in a while - not since the paid skateboard DLC arrived about a year ago - but we've always had a good time with this game.
And some are reduced by even MORE than 90%!Looking for some cheap Xbox games in this week's Xbox sales (September 14-15)?Well, we've got just over 15 games that are reduced by 90% or more on the Xbox Store over the next couple of days, including the likes of The Last Campfire, Rustler, Wartile, Agents of Mayhem and XCOM 2.

Pocketpair CEO: "To be honest, things aren’t decided yet".Palworld has been a tremendous success on Xbox Game Pass and platforms like PC, but it's now at a point in development where the creator Pocketpair must make a tough decision about the model of the title going forward. It's either to complete it with a regular purchase model or swap it over to a live-service model, which would turn it into a free-to-play title.
It's amazing to think that the original Xbox is almost 23 years old!So, to finish off the week, we're interested to know what memories you have of the original Xbox.Read the full article on purexbox.com
Almost exactly four years ago, No Man's Sky developer Hello Games released a lovely little puzzle-adventure game on Xbox (and other platforms) in the form of The Last Campfire, and it's back in the "Top Paid" Xbox charts right now!The reason for that is because it's reduced by 90% in the latest Xbox sales, bringing it down to just £1.19 / $1.49.For your money, you're getting a game that's got a 4.8/5 user rating and a Metacritic high of 86 for the Xbox One version.
Clearly a big focus these days. It's no secret that Phil Spencer and his team at Xbox are rumoured to be working on some kind of new handheld device, and there's also been a big focus over the past year on adapting the Xbox PC app for existing handhelds. This week, The Verge's Tom Warren even spotted that one was included in the artwork accompanying Xbox's new friend request feature, which we believe marks the first time a handheld has ever appeared in one of these.
It's definitely overdue. The vast majority of Assassin's Creed games run at 60FPS on at least the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S these days, but one game that strangely never got the treatment was 2015's Assassin's Creed Syndicate.Fortunately that may be changing soon, as the outlet Aroged recently spotted a now-deleted tweet from Ubisoft Latam that referenced a new 60FPS update for the title.
It's only on the PC store for now though. However, out of the blue this week, the game was suddenly relisted on the Microsoft Store - the catch being that it's only the PC version as things stand. It's available to buy for £14.99 / $29.99, with the release date listed as September 12th.
It feels like we haven't really heard much about Funko Fusion lately, but it's actually out today on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S!The first reviews have started going live today as well, although we only have a handful so far.The game currently has a 64 rating on Metacritic based on just five PS5 reviews, and as far as we know there aren't any Xbox reviews in the wild yet.
Including a couple of particularly popular titles. As we head into the weekend, we wanted to remind you that six games are leaving Xbox Game Pass over the next few days - specifically five of them on Sunday, September 15th, and then there's also an EA Play departure next Monday. There are a bunch of excellent titles to check out before then, including the popular Slime Rancher 2 and Payday 3 along with some indie gems in SpiderHeck and You Suck at Parking.
The publisher is said to be in chaos. The reason for the departures is apparently because Annapurna Interactive had been exploring plans to spin-off the company as a private entity, but were unable to reach an agreement with the Annapurna Pictures owner Megan Ellison. As a result, everyone at Interactive resigned, with 25 people said to have walked away in all.
A talented group has restored project 'Haggar'.One of these games was actually the cancelled project 'Haggar' - probably better remembered as a third-person-style Halo game set in the world of Mega Bloks. As highlighted by MintBlitz in a video on YouTube, an early prototype build of the game is now playable on PC using the emulator Xenia.
The last-gen version releases next week. You may have forgotten that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor officially arrives on Xbox One next week!Yep, this game is getting a last-gen port on September 17th, and we've now got all the performance targets to share as well.
To avoid another "Feel the Burn" incident.Earlier today, it was reported that 650 employees were being laid off from Microsoft Gaming, with many of those said to be from Activision Blizzard.According to The Verge's Tom Warren, Xbox's social media teams were told to "go dark" for the day following the news, with the idea being to avoid an embarrassing "feel the burn" situation like last time.
"Create a coaster and water park paradise".Planet Coaster 2 will launch for Xbox Series X and S on November 6, 2024, with pre-orders available as of today on the Xbox Store. The good news is that it's not a full-price release either - it's £39.99 / $49.99 for the standard edition.
Please be a new game, please be a new game.Back at the start of the month, we spotted that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater social media accounts had begun displaying new artwork to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary, and we questioned whether something new was in the works. In an appearance on Mythical Kitchen earlier today, Tony Hawk spilled the beans about "something" that he's working on with Activision right now, although he wasn't willing to divulge too much:Read the full article on purexbox.com

Following the reveal of the PS5 Pro earlier this week, one of the talking points that's been cropping up has been about whether the next generation of Xbox and PlayStation may be adopting a much higher price point in general. There's obviously been a lot of criticism over the $699.99 price tag for the PS5 Pro, but speaking this week, analysis firm Ampere pointed out a variety of reasons why Sony will have chosen to go so high - and one of those is because Xbox didn't decide to make a like-for-like competitor. Here's a bit of what the firm had to say:Read the full article on purexbox.com

Following the arrival of Xbox Game Pass Standard. As you may well know, it's been possible for a long time now to convert different types of Xbox Game Pass tiers into other ones - one of the most popular methods has been to convert Xbox Game Pass Core into an Ultimate membership. For example, until recently, you'd have been able to convert Core into Ultimate at a 3:2 ratio - meaning that 90 days of Xbox Game Pass Core would equal 60 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Git gud.Look, Elden Ring is a hard game – it's designed that way.Even so, many people have expressed the opinion that the final boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is too difficult to beat, and that has predictably impacted their enjoyment of the DLC.
And it's getting an offline mode in the future. We're always being treated to some excellent bargains on Xbox, but this one really is quite special! This week, Ubisoft has put its 2018 racing game The Crew 2 on sale with a discount of 98%, bringing it down from a price of £39.99 / $49.99 to just £0.80 / $1.00.

Alright, so the big talking point coming out of today's PS5 Pro reveal from Sony is actually how overly expensive the console is, especially considering it doesn't come bundled with a disc drive (although it does have 2TB of storage). Here at Pure Xbox, we argued today that the high price justifies Microsoft's decision not to create an Xbox Series X Pro, but obviously they could have just opted for a lower price if they made one.The question is, what's the sweet spot?
We've already talked a bit today at Pure Xbox about the PS5 Pro that was announced by Sony a couple of hours ago, and as things stand, it seems very unlikely we'll be seeing anything similar from Microsoft in the near future. Some will definitely take that as a negative, but to be honest we can understand why there's no sign of an "Xbox Pro" or an "Xbox Series X Pro" (or whatever else you want to call it) on the horizon.Sure, Microsoft is risking a loss of market share by not competing in this area with Sony, but the positives most likely outweigh the negatives.
It just been announced for a November release. The big news in the gaming world today is that Sony has announced a PS5 Pro that will be launching on November 7th for £699.99 / $699.99.The goal of the console is to deliver the highest quality visuals at improved frame rates.
It's an impressive version. The good folks at Digital Foundry have been taking a look at Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 to celebrate its launch this week, and interestingly they've found that the Xbox Series X version is comfortably the best on console. In their analysis, they noted that the performance mode generally outperforms the PS5 by about 10-15FPS, even though both consoles use the same settings and targets.

We didn't get a chance to review 2K's NBA offering in 2024, but after playing the game in our own free time, we found ourselves hanging up our Air Jordans in pretty short order, as the whole thing just felt way too familiar to 2023's effort - which we'd already pumped hundreds of hours (and an embarrassing number of real world pounds) into.Yeah, we know, these are the well-known issues with yearly incremental refreshes of this nature, especially ones that are designed to steal all of your money, but more than we can recall with any other annual sports series, we felt thoroughly burnt out on Visual Concepts' b-ball antics last year.Read the full article on purexbox.com

"Toggle between the 8bit and HD art styles".Update (Mon 9th Sep, 2024): Well, the original plan for Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is that was coming to Xbox in March (as mentioned in the original story below), but it ended up getting delayed until September 10th.If you're interested, you can check out the brand-new trailer for the game up above, and we also included it as part of our 10 Exciting Xbox Indie Games To Look Out For In September 2024 feature earlier today.
The team says it needs adjusting. It feels like Star Wars Outlaws has had a bit of a mixed launch - some people love it, including us here at Pure Xbox where we gave it a "Great" 8/10 in our review, but others aren't having as much of a good time so far.If you're in this boat right now, the good news is that the team is looking at tweaking the difficulty in the game's next patch.

That's them off the soundtrack, then! The development of GTA 6 is naturally being kept very under wraps at Rockstar Games right now, but clearly there's work being done on the soundtrack - as revealed by a very disgruntled Heaven 17 musician over the weekend.Martyn Ware, who co-founded the pop band in the '80s after previously doing the same with The Human League, took to Twitter to reveal that the band was offered $7500 (for each writer - 3 in all) and Rockstar was unwilling to negotiate.
But how long will that take?Back in late August, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida insisted the future was bright for Square Enix games on Xbox, and once again we've been hearing positive rumours about the FF series in recent days.Windows Central's Jez Corden appeared on a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast where he suggested that the "whole slate" of modern Final Fantasy games will end up on Xbox - although the timings remain unknown:Read the full article on purexbox.com

Chapter 1 has clearly been a hit. It's been a couple of months now since the horror / puzzle game Poppy Playtime: Chapter 1 arrived on Xbox, and we've seen it regularly appearing in the Top Paid charts ever since - probably because of its low price of just £4.19 / $4.99!If you've enjoyed it as much as we have (we gave Poppy Playtime: Chapter 1 a "Good" 7/10 in our Pure Xbox review), you'll be glad to know that according to Xbox Wire, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 are set to arrive on September 12, 2024.
Hi-Fi RUSH felt like a huge hit for Xbox in early 2023, but even a critical darling like that didn't help Tango Gameworks survive at Microsoft.Speaking in a new interview with IGN, Tango's legendary founder Shinji Mikami talked a little bit about the studio, and Hi-Fi RUSH of course.Mikami said that he thought the team — which he left in 2023 — "would be safe as long as they continued to make Hi-Fi Rush games".
This one's a mega-hit in the UK.Looking around the Xbox charts today, we were pretty surprised to see that the "Top Free" game in the UK right now (not including all the recent downloads for the Black Ops 6 Beta) is Hamster Playground, which released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S to very little fanfare back on July 11th, 2024.There are a few other new entries in the list as well, such as Snooker Blitz from the team behind Pool Nation FX and Pool Blitz in recent years, along with the fast-paced MOBA-meets-FPS Predecessor, which shadow dropped at Gamescom 2024.

We don't know where the last 365 days have gone, as today marks exactly one year since the full launch of Starfield on Xbox and PC!In that time the game has grown substantially with a variety of updates and even mod support.Bethesda's space epic got off to a good start with the critics back then, including here at Pure Xbox where we gave Starfield an "Excellent" 9/10 in our review, but the game has definitely had its critics - it's still sitting on a "Mixed" rating on the Steam platform, for example.

You know, if there's one thing that Hogwarts Legacy didn't do very well a couple of years ago, it was the total lack of playable Quidditch. The reason behind that was seemingly because Warner Bros. and developer Unbroken Studios were working on Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions in the background, and although it appears to have taken longer than expected to finally release, the final product is much better than we anticipated it would be.What you're getting here is a £25 / $30 standalone Quidditch experience complete with an Exhibition mode, various tournaments to complete either solo or with friends online, and 3v3 multiplayer that plays very much like a game of EA FC Clubs.
Hogwarts Legacy has been a huge success for Warner Bros over the last 18 months or so, with the game selling like crazy on Xbox since its launch back in Feb.It's no surprise, then, that the publisher sees a sequel as "one of its biggest priorities" in the next few years.Wiedenfels sees a big opportunity for "significant growth" on the back of this planned Hogwarts Legacy sequel.

Aye, The Casting of Frank Stone isn't exactly original, but Supermassive Games has delivered yet another popcorn horror experience that we can't say we didn't enjoy blasting through over the course of a couple of gaming nights.Set in the Dead by Daylight 'universe' but forgoing any of that game's crossover material, The Casting of Frank Stone feels fairly similar to any other Supermassive horror game (The Quarry, The Dark Pictures, etc). It's all here and we enjoyed most of it, even with limited knowledge of the source material.
